I have been studying undocumented migration to the United States from Mexico for more than thirty years. This will be the first time, though, that I have spent a significant amount of time in the border area. I'm looking forward to a time of active learning and serving on the border and not just being a paper writer. Outside of my academic work, I'm an ardent environmentalist, I grow as much of my own food as I can, and I love to read crazy, scary thriller novels. I can't wait to spend time with such an exciting group of students--even if we now have to call our project "GIEU Goes to Mexico--NOT!" |
